As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Raja Kanwar Jang Singh Sandhu as follows:

• Your implant and bridge treatment in this matter failed to meet the expected standards of the profession. You failed to adequately treatment plan and consider whether this was an appropriate patient for the treatment provided. Further, you failed to properly manage the post-operative concerns of the patient.

• It is deeply disappointing that you did not learn from the prior remedial course in Prosthodontics ordered by the ICR Committee in 2012, and that you have demonstrated a failure to learn from your past clinical mistakes and remediation.

• It is expected that you will learn from the hands-on, one-on-one course in Prosthodontics ordered by the ICR in this matter, such that your practice will be remediated and the College will not receive further complaints of this nature. Given the ICR’s repeated efforts to remediate this area of your practice, any further complaints of this nature may be referred to the Discipline Committee.

For greater certainty, this restriction does not prohibit me from performing restorative treatments such as single-unit crowns, inlays, or onlays, except on teeth with existing prosthodontic treatments. Arrange for the transfer of care for any patients undergoing active, finished or maintenance prosthodontic treatment, including implant treatment, to another qualified dentist.

As a result of a complaint, the Inquiries, Complaints and Reports Committee decided to caution Dr. Raja Kanwar Jang Singh Sandhu as follows:

• The Committee is deeply disappointed in the lack of clinical knowledge and professional judgment you demonstrated in your management of the Patient’s implant treatment.

• You failed to apply the lessons you ought to have learned in past prosthodontic remediation.

• You gave the Patient a large number of individual implants and an implant supported denture without engaging in appropriate case selection, treatment planning and site assessment.

• You placed implants poorly and did not consider steps such as bone grafting to increase their chance of success.

• Your records were poor despite past remediation.

• The Committee is deeply concerned that you initiated and proceeded with such complicated and expensive treatment before acknowledging the Patient’s case was beyond your skill level. You left the Patient in the unfortunate position of having to find another dentist or dentists to fix the problems you created without remaining engaged in helping her.

• The Committee has serious concerns about your failure to meet the expected professional standards and follow the College’s implant dentistry Guidelines.

• The Committee would have considered a referral to the Discipline Committee if you had not already undertaken to stop doing implant treatment.

• If you ever intend to resume implant dentistry, you must first successfully complete an extensive program of education so that you remediate your clinical knowledge and skills, and the public is protected.
